How To Treat Eczema - Part 3

Making dietary changes in your food habits can also help you in controlling eczema.


Improving diet - Go organic and natural and avoid processed foods as much as possible. Add healthy food sources to your diet like  fresh fruits and vegetables, beans, nuts, etc and reduce the amount of red meat in your diet. Make sure to include lot of omega-3 oils in your diet which are commonly found in foods like fish, green leafy vegetables, etc which help you to maintain moist and soft skin.

Reduce dairy products - One of the most common dairy products that triggers eczema is cow's milk, so it is better to cut it down from your diet. Instead your can switch to alternatives like goat or buffalo's milk or also non animal substitutes like oat milk, almond milk, etc. Cow's milk is said to be filled with hormones and chemicals which are acidic and is known to affect your eczema. Stop drinking cow's milk for atleast 2-3 weeks and check if makes any difference .

For some people other than dairy products, even foods like eggs, nuts, etc are said to cause eczema. It is best if you can avoid them in your diet as well.

Cutting down on gluten - Reducing gluten foods from your diet is also said to control eczema. The most common food that is said to trigger eczema is wheat.  Eliminate gluten foods that trigger eczema like bread, pasta, cereals, etc from your diet and check for any noticeable difference.

Maintain a diet dairy - Keep a diet dairy and note down all the foods that you eat and notice for any changes when you eat something. While for some foods you might notice changes immediately and for others it might take some time. If you notice any difference then remove that food from your diet for 2-3 weeks or even more and check if it makes any difference to your skin. 

Natural dietary supplements - There are many dietary supplements that can help you reduce symptoms of eczema.  Some of them include:

               > Gamma-linolenic acid - These are of fatty acids are found in oils like evening primrose, black currant and borage. It is said to help your skin by reliving inflammation and balance the lipids in your skin.

               > Vitamin A, D and E - These vitamins can help your skin by improving hydration, improving skin texture and increase collagen production.

               > Fatty acids - Studies have shown that fatty acids have shown to improve your skin by reducing inflammation and reliving dry and itchy skin. Instead of suing omega-6s use omeg-3 as they are said to be pro-flammatory.
