For infants, the patches usually show in areas like cheeks, the scalp, back of the elbow and knees, and the neck.

Though the exact reason for the cause of eczema is not known yet, there are remedies to bring them under control.

Giving them more bath - Before there was a belief that frequent baths for babies would worsen the eczema effects but infact it actually is helpful than bad. A bacteria known as staphylococcal bacteria which is said to trigger eczema can be avoided by cleansing the skin.

Though the number of the baths for a baby each varies from each individual, keep in mind not to overdo it. Use warm water, wash the area of patches mildly and don't keep the baby in water for more than 20 minutes. When buying baby products avoid fragrance free and opt for cleansers.

Bleach bath - Though bleach is one of the dangers chemicals you can even think of bringing near your baby, if use in moderation for severe eczema it can help control the eczema spreading bacteria. A thing to keep in mind is that this should be done only on those babies than can sit by themselves without any support and also under the guidance of a pediatrician.

Maintain moisture - Once your baby has been bathed, don't rub the body to dry it, instead just pat softly so that the moisture is maintained. Use a good moisturizing cream after the bath so that the baby's moisture is sealed. Keep the cream handy during your baby's diaper changes too.

Avoid dairy food - Dairy is one the most common reason for eczema in babies, so cutting them down might help controlling eczema. If the mother is having digestive problems then it could be transferred to the babies as well.

As an alternate you can check if donor breast milk can help or formula feeding your baby with hypoallergenic formula.

Probiotics - A recent journal has found that if the mother is fed with probiotics during her pregnancy stage or during the early stages of infancy it well help in preventing eczema in infants. A combination of fish oil and probiotics is also said to eliminate  eczema on more than 50% of babies. You can consult your doctor to find out the best products and dosage required.

Consult pediatrician - A pediatrician can suggest other kinds of medicines depending on the condition of your baby's eczema. Another therapy known as the wet water therapy which involves covering your baby in wet clothes is said to be effective on controlling eczema in babies.
